Eleanor Oakes

Eleanor Oakes is a photographic artist based in Detroit.  Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, including a solo show at Tyler Wood Gallery in San Francisco (2015), and 25 Under 25: Up-and-Coming American Photographers (powerHouse Books and CDS, 2008).  She received a Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Award from the San Francisco Foundation in 2013, an honorable mention in the Camera Club of New York’s 2015 Annual Juried Competition, and is an Applebaum Emerging Artist Resident at Ponyride for 2016.  Oakes has an M.F.A. in Art Practice from Stanford University and a B.A. from Princeton University.  She is the founder of Darkroom Detroit and teaches photography in the Detroit Metro Area.
