Ingrid LaFleur is a cultural producer, arts advocate and founder of AFROTOPIA, an evolving creative research project that uses Afrofuturism as a social engagement practice in Detroit, MI.  LaFleur uses multiple forms of media to investigate possible avenues for psychosocial healing within her artistic practice.  With a special interest in the idea of transcendence, LaFleur researches spirituality within Black American revolutions and rebellions, African mythologies, ancient practices of ritual and alter-making, alternative healing modalities and spirit science.

LaFleur’s curatorial work on Afrofuturism has been presented at Centre Pompidou (Paris), University of Bayreuth (Bayreuth, Germany), Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA), TEDxBrooklyn, TEDxDetroit, College for Creative Studies (Detroit) among others.  LaFleur is based in Detroit, MI.
